One of the most significant men of Italian literature left us, he was not only a writer but also a dramatist, a scriptwriter, a film-maker and an Italian teacher, he taught directing at the National Academy of Dramatic art. He was born in Porto Empedocle on 6 September 1925 (in province of Agrigento) and from the forties he moved to Rome but he never forgot his Sicily. In Rome he started to work as a film director, author and scriptwriter he worked for several TV production, such as the famous Lieutenant Sheridan and the Inspector Maigret, and for theatre where he directed plays by Pirandello, Beckett, Ionesco, Adamov and poems of Majakovskij.
